After being approached by numerous adults about chamber music opportunities to get plugged into a group, work with a coach and learn more about their instrument in a collaborative way, we decided to launch an Adult Amateur extension of our Chamber Music Academy. The pilot program is off to successful start with two new groups participating in this Fall Semester! One a combined group of clarinet/violin/cello/piano and the other involving two flutists working with a flute coach. We’re excited to have them join us and asked one of our new members to write a short segment about their experience so far:
When I moved to the Fort Collins area only six months ago I was hoping to find the opportunity to meet other musicians for chamber music playing, something I had enjoyed for more than 40 years in my former community. Even before the move I had become aware of Off the Hook Arts, loved the concept, and thoroughly enjoyed a sampling of WinterFest 2018. I knew that OTHA had a Chamber Music Academy for youth, and when I learned that beginning this year there would be an adult amateur academy, I found what I was looking for. Now my clarinet and I are grouped with a violinist, cellist, and pianist/coach — all fine musicians and all nice people — and our rehearsals have begun. And I could not be more pleased.
Thanks for becoming a member of the OtHA CMA family! We’re so glad to have you onboard. We look forward to making lots of joyful music with you in the upcoming years.
