Oberlin Happy Hour Gathering

Regular listeners of American Public Media’s “Performance Today,” American’s most popular classical music radio program, will be familiar with the weekly show’s Piano Puzzler classical music game, in which Mr. Adolphe re-writes a familiar tune in the style of a classical composer. Listeners are challenged to name the hidden tune and the composer whose style is imitated. More Information: An all-ages gathering of Obie alums, current and prospective students, and parents for pre-event socializing, networking, and billiards at Coopersmiths Poolside in Fort Collins, followed by a special live performance and panel presentation featuring Bruce Adolphe. Now on public radio’s weekly radio program, “Performance Today, “Piano Puzzlers present perceptual problems and confusing keyboard conundrums.
In this live evening program, three scientists (Anne Cleary, Professor of Cognitive Psychology, Colorado State University, Assal Habibi, Assistant Professor (Research) of Psychology, University of Southern California, Brain and Creativity Institute, and Carol Seger, Professor of Cognitive Psychology, Colorado State University) join Bruce in examining musical confusion and clarity, followed by a one-hour concert of nothing by piano puzzlers!
Location: Coopersmith Poolside (across from the main pub). Look for the red and gold balloons! At 6:00, we will proceed to the highlight of the event, the Piano Puzzlers event at the Carnegie Center for Creativity, a 5-minute, 0.2-mile walk from Coopersmith Poolside.
