Front Range Chamber Players at Preston

Nov 21, 2013 | Off the Hook Arts

Remember when you were a kid? Did you get to see world class performances at your middle school? That’s exactly what PYCH and the Front Range Chamber Players’ (FRCP) new educational collaboration is providing for music students at PYCH schools. For every concert the FRCP produce in Fort Collins, great musicians visit one of our four PYCH schools. Led by FRCP Artistic Director, Colorado Symphony Orchestra member, and newest addition to the Mendelssohn Trio, Erik Peterson, along with cellist, Barbara Thiem and pianist, Theodore Wichtmann,  played for roughly 75 Preston 8th grade musicians, on November 12,. As an audience, they were engaged, actively listening, and full of questions.

With this newest program addition, PYCH continues to grow in the way it introduces new ways of music making to the next generation of performers, music appreciators and audiences. As an additional result of our collaboration, FRCP donated  free sets of tickets for one adult/one student for five lucky PYCH families to attend their November 19 concert. This was greatly appreciate by our families! We want to thank The Kayla Foundation for their partial support of this project, and Kristin Rangel, Preston Orchestra Director, and Andrea Hollenbeck, Preston Band Director, for their generous invitation to perform for these up-and-coming young musicians and creative minds.
