Yesterday was a day that will stay with me for a long time. With rapt attention, from 1 1/2 years old on up, there were 30 of us caught in the musical web of the Front Range Chamber Players. It goes without saying that Erik Peterson, Ron Francois, Wesley Ferreira, Charlie Tucker and Margaret Miller played beautifully but it’s the atmosphere they created of ease and warmth. Great discussion and questions all around! But the pièce de résistance occurred when we divided into separate rooms: 30 minute private coaching sessions with a FRCP musician for each of our After School chamber music groups.
Not to say that they aren’t exposed to these ideas every week, but the discussion about music making, ensemble playing, phrasing, communication was taken in at a higher level of concentration than I’ve ever seen. I know these coaches made a huge impact on our students. We can’t thank them enough for coming and hope our growing collaboration with the Front Range Chamber Players only continues to develop through the years. Incredibly valuable experience. We can’t say thank you enough.
