FORT COLLINS, CO, May 20, 2016 – There’s something for everyone at Off the Hook Arts 5th Annual SummerFest, running from June 4 to July 2 and featuring nationally prominent musicians, artists and scientists, showcasing various arts genres and science disciplines.
Attendees will enjoy intimate and public concerts, creative children’s events, unusual movement sessions, creative workshops and more as part of the festival’s R/evolution theme.
“Our goal this year is to reflect how music, science and the arts in general foster innovation and unique events,” said OtHA Executive Artistic Director Jephta Bernstein. “For example, our US premiere of Einstein’s Light looks at how the scientist’s love of music facilitated his mathematical creativity.”
In addition to Einstein’s Light, SummerFest 2016 will highlight the premieres of The Origin, an evolution-themed opera featuring performances by Colorado-based Metropolitan Opera singers, and internationally acclaimed guitarist Eliot Fisk performing Suite for Pete, in memory of Pete Seeger. Music for all three premieres was composed by OtHA Artistic Director Bruce Adolphe, the resident lecturer at The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York and creator of the Piano Puzzler program on public radio.
Off the Hook Arts SummerFest 2016 benefits its academy music education programs for Poudre R-1, offering free and low-cost mentoring programs for the next generation of creative thinkers in the arts and scientists.
