John Bloemker

Guitar
John Bloemker has been playing music for over 20 years, focusing primarily on guitar and string instruments including bass, viola and ukulele. After graduating from CSU where he studied mathematics education, John began teaching guitar lessons in 2018, with a philosophy of students learning music to become more well-rounded, experienced individuals, and most importantly, to learn to better appreciate and enjoy music and art. Growing up in Pennsylvania, John's first professional experience as a musician was at the age of 15 playing bass guitar in a 21-piece big band, Music Unlimited Jazz Ensemble, who played at a variety of community events and recorded some studio albums. While in PA, John continued to gather experience playing with a variety of jazz groups, both large and small. He also played with his high school orchestra on viola, including performing with the pit of his high school musical for three years, and successfully auditioning for the PMEA District Orchestra Festival his senior year. After moving to Colorado to attend CSU, John continued to seek more opportunities to perform, and helped found a 10-piece ska band, the Swashbuckling Doctors, and started primarily playing guitar. While playing with the Swashbuckling Doctors, he recorded several albums and played over 100 festivals and events across Colorado, Utah and Wyoming including regular appearances at the annual FoCoMX festival since 2011. John has also performed as a guitarist in several musical theater productions in Colorado, including shows with the Midtown Arts Center, Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, and Little Theatre of the Rockies.
