Kansas Thorp is a music venue owner, musician, and financial professional in the Fort Collins area. Her background in music begins at the early age of 5 singing the national anthem at rodeos with her family as they competed in rodeos across the states. She’s been involved in a variety of bands and music genres as well as dabbled in the song-writing industry for the past 15 years. Kansas opened the Ideal Theatre & Bar, located in Cedar Rapids, IA in fall of 2022 to provide a mid-size music venue to the community and increase the musical opportunities in her hometown. She currently manages the theater’s finances, oversees all project management, and aims to provide exceptional sound quality and performing experience to performing artists. Kansas currently works for the University of Colorado, Boulder as a financial and business analyst for their Student Affairs division. She enjoys applying her financial, and systems efficiencies expertise to better services for students at the university. Kansas has a strong passion for music and community and strives to encourage emotional expression through art. She enjoys jamming with musicians, song-writing, rock climbing, rodeo, travel, and spending time with her family.
