Nancy Bryan

Having begun piano lessons at age five, Nancy Bryan has had music near the center of her life ever since. Following fifteen years of piano study she transitioned to the pipe organ as her primary instrument and was privileged to study at School of Music at the University of Michigan, after which she worked as a church organist and choral director for many years. Her love of literature led her to a career in a selective college preparatory school in Atlanta, where she initially taught, then worked as the college and academic counselor. When Nancy and her husband moved to Fort Collins in 2007, she left her career in academia and rediscovered the challenges and pleasures of once again studying piano. In Fort Collins she enjoys playing with other adult pianists who meet regularly to play for each other as well as performing in several piano soirees a year. Nancy is passionate about offering children and young people the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument, which is the reason she has been supporting the educational programs of OtHA ever since learning about their work. Each of her seven grandchildren continues to study either voice, piano, saxophone or violin. And one of them even enjoys participating in OtHA’s Chamber Music Academy. Consequently, serving on the OtHA board is a culmination of a lifetime of meaningful musical experiences and connections for Nancy.
