Daniel Delaney is a modern cellist, improvisor, and composer. He’s performed throughout the United States as a concerto soloist, band leader, recording artist, chamber and orchestral musician, and clinician. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Northern Colorado and his Master of Music degree from Mannes School of Music in New York City. He has since served as cello and chamber music faculty for the Music Workshop Philadelphia, the Csehy Summer School of Music, and Cairn University School of Music. Daniel is delighted to also serve as faculty for Off the Hook Arts.
Celebrated as a versatile studio recording artist, Daniel is credited with performances on major contemporary pop projects by BeachSlang (Polyvinyl), Elvira Nikolaisen (SONY), Lushlife (Western Vinyl), mewithoutYou (Tooth and Nail), Twin Sister (Domino), Sun Airway (Dead Oceans), and many others. He is founder of Dark Horse Orchestra, Philadelphia’s premier studio orchestra and served as Director from it’s founding in 2010 until 2014.
Daniel is a champion of new music and of multi-disciplinary and multi-genre musical performance. The Philadelphia Inquirer called him a “master musician… a pleasure to hear” and Broadway World praised him as a “world class cellist.”
