CARTOONS AND HIDDEN TUNES: GETTING SERIOUS ABOUT LAUGHTER!
JANUARY 21 – 24, 2016
Fort Collins, CO — Off the Hook Arts, at the intersection of music and ideas brings together KAL, Kevin Kallaugher, the editorial cartoonist for The Economist for over 35 years, and Bruce Adolphe, our co-artistic director and The Piano Puzzler on Performance Today since 2002, in a hilarious and entertaining performance event, benefiting Off the Hook Arts (OtHA), called Cartoons and Hidden Tunes: getting serious about laughter! January 22nd at 7:00pm.
OtHA features these two seriously funny and engaging artists, doing and discussing their craft. Come see how Kal creates his weekly political cartoons and finds humor in even the most serious events, and hear Bruce Adolphe at the piano, with his popular weekly piano puzzlers that combine familiar tunes with classical masterpieces in ever-surprising mash-ups.
KAL will walk the audience step by step through his artistic process and teach you the basics of cartooning. Bruce performs his latest Piano Puzzlers at the piano and improvises tunes to Kal’s ‘toons. Together, they will ultimately surprise you with their humor, warmth, and improvisations that feed off one another in this dynamic performance event that you won’t soon forget.
Tickets include reception, silent auction and viewing of the fundraising Art Show. All sales benefit our talented local artists and Off the Hook Arts’ Education programs which offer free and low-cost music education mentoring for the next generation of thinkers, creative minds, leaders and music appreciators.
