Michael J. Kimball, Ph.D., is a certified mindfulness teacher, co-founder and director of the emergent Center for Applied Contemplative Studies, and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). As the 2017 recipient of UNC’s Faculty Engaged Scholar Award and author of Ethnowise: Embracing Culture Shock to Build Resilience, Responsiveness & Connection (Kendall Hunt Publishing), Kimball’s scholarly work and teaching revolve around community-engaged and contemplative approaches to understanding what it is and can be to be human—in the past, right now, and into the future.
